Cold Weather Sipping – Brandy & Cognac

Expert Picks

Andrew Facey

Brandy and Cognac is a small but growing category at NLC that is great for cold weather sipping. Brandy is defined as “a distilled spirit made from fermented fruit juice”, with grapes being the most common fruit used in its production. Cognac is a type of brandy that hails from the region just north of Bordeaux and its production is tightly controlled by French law. It is considered to be the most celebrated brandy in the world! Brandy and cognac are ideal for sipping or can be used as an ingredient for many cocktails and concoctions. During the long winter season there are few better digestifs to aid in the digestion of food than a well-made brandy!
