Andrew’s Picks for Opening Day

Nothing signals the arrival of spring quite like the start of baseball season. The official start of the 2026 MLB season is Wednesday, March 25th, while the Toronto Blue Jays open at home on Friday, March 27 when the Oakland A’s come to town for a three-game series.

The Jays have a long history with the Labatt Brewing Company, dating back to 1977 when Labatt purchased the team’s expansion rights. It’s no coincidence that the Jays colours and logos closely resemble Labatt’s flagship beer – Labatt Blue. Today, the Labatt portfolio includes brands such as Corona, Stella Artois, Palm Bay and Budweiser. In addition to the Labatt partnership, the Jays have recently signed a four-year deal with Smoky Bay winery, making it the Official Wine of the Toronto Blue Jays. Smoky Bay is Canada’s top-selling Australian wine brand and can be found in liquor stores from coast to coast.

This season I’ll be kicking back and enjoying as many of the Jays’ 162 regular-season games as I can with a glass or bottle of one of the following products. I’ve also included some of my favourite non-alcoholic options for those who choose not to imbibe. Go Jays Go!
