Expertly Selected Whiskies

Squeaky is the wheel of today’s whisky connoisseur; free-flowing oil comes in the form of venerable Canadian rye. I’m often asked for substitutes for a specific type of whisky which shall remain unnamed, and there are lots to pick from, depending on your taste profile. Canadian whisky laws leave a bit of wiggle room to allow to produce several different styles, from single malts to bourbon-esque, corn-based whiskies.

100% rye Lot No.40, which has recently returned to our shelves, has received much recognition over the years for its quality. Also worth mentioning is Forty Creek and locally distilled Newfoundland Distillery Whisky, which is made similarly to Irish whiskies, in small single pot batches. It can sometimes be hard to get, but it’s well worth the effort. More specialty whiskies will soon begin to appear on shelves so keep an eye out, and ask your friendly neighborhood PKC for guidance on our latest releases.
