Prosecco and Pinot Noir

Today we focus on two very food-friendly wines! In recognition of International Prosecco Day on August 13th and International Pinot Noir Day on August 18th, we have selected some of our favourite selections of each type. Prosecco hails from north-eastern Italy and is the best-selling sparkling wine in the world today. These sparklers are light, crisp and lively, featuring lovely aromas and flavours of pear and apple, often with slight peach notes. They are great on their own as an aperitif or serve them with deep-fried appetizers or most any shellfish or seafood dish. Pinot Noir is the heartbreak grape. It is difficult to grow and turn into wine, but when done correctly the results can be amazing! The vast majority of Pinot Noir’s are light to medium bodied and display pure red fruit aromas and flavours of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and cranberry. The most food-friendly of reds, Pinot Noirs go well with a variety of different dishes, especially meaty fish such as salmon and tuna, and poultry like duck and turkey.
