No show this year, but the WINES have arrived!

Expert Picks

Andrew Facey

Like me, you may be disappointed that we had to postpone this year’s Wine Show! I am, however, ecstatic to announce that a great selection of the wines are still coming! Many of these “new to our market” vinos have already made it here and are available at select locations – Howley Avenue and Merrymeeting Road. Visit ”Exclusive Wines – Limited Time Only” for updated products and availability, with offerings for all palates, from beginner to seasoned pro!
Personal highlights, with accompanying recommendations, include:
  • The J.P. Chenet range of fruit-infused sparkling wines. Current flavours include pineapple, apple and my favourite, a blend of raspberry and strawberry. These are great at only $15.99 per 750ml.
  • Many examples (at least 5) of what most people would consider the most food-friendly of red grape varietals – Pinot Noir. These range in price from a $17.86 Italian offering (Sku 22442 -Soli Pinot Noir) right up to a gem from New Zealand that tips the scales at $49.60 (Sku 19096 – Greywacke Pinot Noir).
  • I would be remiss if I was to speak about Pinot Noir and not mention one from its homeland – Burgundy. This year we have brought in two wines by Vincent Girardin, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir (Sku 22814 – Bourgogne P.Noir Cuvée St.Vincent – $39.98)
  • Finally, for the oenophiles who may be reading this piece, there are two wines on our list that are considered worthy of laying down for aging. The 2018 Cigalus Red Blend from Bertrand (Sku 17371 – $49.97) is a French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and should be paired with an equally high quality cut of beef or lamb. To end, we have one of Italy’s top wines – a 2015 Brunello di Montalcino by Tommasi Casisano – which can age for at least a decade but is drinking beautifully right now (Sku 18994 – $59.98).
