Andrew Facey
SENIOR PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE CONSULTANT
Corporate
Andrew is a proud Newfoundlander who has been lucky enough to work in numerous Canadian provinces – something that helped him realize how great Newfoundland really is! In the early 1990’s Andrew graduated from Memorial University with an Arts Degree in Sociology and headed out west for his second stint in Lake Louise. Andrew worked as a waiter at local restaurants during university and headed out west with the hopes of a lucrative job in the service industry. This was the start of a long career as a fine-dining server. After a year or so in the Rockies he returned to St. John’s and worked at Bianca’s on Water Street for almost three years. In 2000, Andrew moved to Toronto and over the next seven years, worked in four different restaurants – two of which were, according to Toronto’s premier food critic, James Chatto, number one in the whole city at the time. It was during this time that he discovered what a Sommelier was, and how to become one. Once achieving this distinction from the International Sommelier Guild (ISG) Andrew returned home in the spring of 2007. Originally working at The Vault restaurant as it’s Manager and Sommelier, and since February 2008 here at the NLC as our first, and to date only, Senior Product Knowledge Consultant Andrew is a Certified Beer Server through the Cicerone Certification Program and the local teacher for the first two levels of the world-renown WSET program here in St. John’s.
