No, only registered service animals are permitted in NLC Stores.

NLC Liquor Stores do not process the return of empty beer bottles. Empty domestic bottles can be returned to Brewer’s Agents, who shall accept in return empty beer bottles equal to the amount being purchased. The bottle deposit is $1.20 per dozen and must be fully refunded on all empties accepted.

Brewer’s Distributors must accept all empty bottles presented to them and return the bottle deposit of $1.20 per dozen in full.

Empty non-domestic beer, liquor, and wine bottles are to be returned to your local recycling depot as per the direction of the Multi-Material Stewardship Board (MMSB) in Newfoundland and Labrador. All Corporate Liquor Store and Liquor Express Store staff are trained to provide service to those who can legally consume alcohol. Customers are asked to show government-issued identification if they appear to be under the age of 25 years. Our staff will refuse service to those who appear intoxicated or who are suspected of purchasing for those who are intoxicated or underage. We take these measures to ensure that beverage alcohol is sold only to those who consume it legally and responsibly.

This program is available only to producers located in reciprocating jurisdictions (provinces or territories that have signed a DTC operational agreement with NL). Reciprocating jurisdictions can be reviewed at https://nlliquor.com/direct-to-consumer/.

NL producers can ship products within NL under the legislation. A list of NL producers that may ship DTC can be reviewed at nlliquor.com.

Authorized producers will be listed on https://nlliquor.com/direct-to-consumer/. The producer remains responsible for managing orders, payment, and delivery to the consumer.

A consumer cannot order product from a beverage alcohol producer not on the authorized list; however, a consumer can ask the producer to get authorized. Once the beverage alcohol producer is authorized a purchase can be made.

This model is intended to give consumers more choice while maintaining regulatory oversight.

DTC products may be sold and delivered only to consumers age 19 or over in NL for personal use. Products may not be sold for resale or commercial use.

Beverage alcohol producers must not sell or deliver alcohol to minors under 19 years of age, interdicted persons, or people who appear intoxicated. The authorized producer shall not sell, ship, transport or deliver beverage alcohol, either directly or indirectly, into a prohibited area.

Producers set the price of the products, which will be displayed on their websites.

Beverage alcohol producers are responsible for payment and logistics of their product. All inquiries must be made to the producer from which the product is purchased.

Delivery is made by the producer or third-party carrier with the requirements of age verification at the receipt of product. Compliance with all applicable provincial and federal legislation is required at all times.

Those caught in noncompliance with legislation will be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with legislation.
