Sunday January 16th, 2022 is “International Hot & Spicy Food Day”. In honour of this joyous event the NLC’s product knowledge team members are offering some of their favourite alcoholic pairings below. Thirst quenching, cold beer is many people’s first choice when consuming hot and spicy dishes, and is very well represented on our list. While spice is largely viewed as a wine killer, and can negatively affect wines that are high in tannins and/or alcohol, great pairings arise when wines are selected that have high amounts of residual sugar, and are therefore considered sweet.
